“Silent Teacher”
Body Donation Programme Trailer

Why Body Donation Matters
Human anatomy is a cornerstone of every medical student’s journey. It allows future doctors to intimately understand the human body—its structure, its complexity, its fragility. At the core of this learning are the “Silent Teachers,” individuals who, even in passing, continue to nurture, educate, and inspire the future medical professionals.
Their legacy extends far beyond the classroom. Donated bodies not only support teaching, but also help refine surgical techniques, contributing directly to safer and more effective treatments. That is why, while we strongly support organ donation as a life-saving act, we honor whole-body donation as a profound and enduring gift to society.
Honoring Our Silent Teachers
Before the first anatomy lesson begins, students take part in a silent tribute—a moment of stillness, reflection, and gratitude. At the end of the course, students write heartfelt messages on cards. These cards accompany the Silent Teachers in the casket to the final stop –cremation, carrying love, respect, and remembrance on the donor’s final journey.
One student wrote:
“You taught without words; we thank you beyond words.
Life is finite, but knowledge is eternal.
Every lesson stays with us.
Silent Teacher, how can we ever repay you?”
Our Values
The Faculty of Medicine at CUHK upholds the values of respect, compassion, and social responsibility. We believe that body donation is not merely an act of generosity, but an extension of a life lived with purpose. Through the “Silent Teacher” Programme, we strive to nurture future doctors with both medical competence and a deep sense of humanity.
